The Wanted Blog
Here at KDWB we have become pretty obsessed with boy bands recently. One group that we absolutely love would have to be The Wanted. They’ve already played two Skyroom performances here at the station, are coming to the Star Party on May 17th, and are all around such cool, nice (and cute!) guys. If you haven’t seen their performance of “Afternoon Delight” in our Skyroom check it out immediately; we all pretty much freaked out! This past week has been an especially big deal for The Wanted with the release of their
Here in the KDWB office, we often argue about which one is the cutest, listen to their songs on repeat while we work, obsess over their most recent #WantedWednesday video (

Interns Emily & Kyra
It’s Friday, January 20th, it’s cold, it’s snowy, and we’re suck at the KDWB studio. So interns Lisa and Rachel decided to put together some tips on how to survive a snow storm. Feel free to take notes, or maybe even print this out for future reference.

#1 Don’t eat all the brownies at once, you’ll really regret it later when you’re hungry and still snowed in. Plus, too much sugar is never the best choice when you’re at work, people tend to look at you funny.

#2 Brownies make you thirsty, don’t drink all the water at once, again, you’ll regret it later.

#3 Make sure to stay warm! Preferably with a blanket, but banners work too…

#4 Keep listening to KDWB for weather and traffic updates!!
If you have any other tips for surviving a snow storm, let us know in the comments!
Brace yourselves. This time blog duty has been given to Interns Chelsie, JP, and Ninja.
Last month, we were given the opportunity to help KDWB kick off Christmas Wish 2012. If you aren’t familiar with Christmas Wish, it’s an opportunity for our listeners to nominate families who have fallen on hard times for us to give them the Christmas they deserve. All in all, we have granted 27 wishes this year, and have had exceptional success in regards to donations. One morning, $2,500 was raised, resulting in Crisco getting 40 piercings on his back (ouch)!
Pure Christmas Wish Dedication
As interns, we have helped shop, wrap, and deliver gifts. Before we went out shopping for the families, we learned of their stories which made the shopping more meaningful. The best part was that these families had no idea they were about to receive these gifts!
After the shopping was done, we spent time in the office wrapping up all the gifts. We called ourselves Santa’s Little Helpers and we all got incredibly good at wrapping presents. Then it was off with the DJs to surprise families with their gifts! All of this was live on the air, so it wasn’t without its mishaps. I, Intern JP, got lost with Big D and Intern Rachel on our way to deliver gifts to a listener’s work. When you’re live on the radio and something like that happens, it can make for some awkward on-air moments, but of course, once the gifts are delivered, we were reminded why we do this.
The best part is seeing people’s reactions. Remember, these families have no idea what they are about to receive until we are standing at their doorstep. There were lots of tears, hugs, and excited little kids.
As interns, we get to do a lot of fun and exciting events, but helping out with something like this really puts things into perspective. It felt so good to give back to our listeners, and the Christmas Wish-a-Thon was easily a favorite day for all of us!
If you didn’t get to experience all that is KDWB’s Christmas Wish, fear not! You can see and listen to all the wishes right here.
We hope you all are enjoying your holiday season! See you in the New Year!
