Hey there all you loyal listeners. This is Intern Daniel writing my very first blog! We we we so excited! I’m going to provide a little insight into the life of an intern that may be different from what most other interns get to experience in a typical summer. Being a theater and music major, not a communications or public relations major or whatever most of the interns always say they major in, I do not have the same educational background as the other KDWB interns. Most of my free time is spent playing music on the piano and singing, acting, and dancing in plays. And no, it’s not just “Defying Gravity” and “High School Musical”. Believe me, I love playing all different kinds of songs on the piano, from Adele’s “Someone Like You” to more classical songs that are in…. wait for it… other languages! My current favorite things to play are Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last 5 Years” and anything by Ben Folds, which I use to distract myself from my obsession with “The Book of Mormon”, a new Broadway show for which I have been unable to find the sheet music (this make me really sad, if you were wondering).
Right now I am gearing up to open “Anything Goes” at Minnetonka Community Theater. I will try to contain my bitterness at not being cast as a dancer in this show, but it is probably for a good reason- there is A LOT of dancing, including two full tap numbers! Two of the leads are equity actors, and the rest are phenomenal as well! Although I have a small chorus part, I highly urge all readers to see this play (it runs through August 6th). You can find info on the show at www.minnetonkatheater.com . For the caliber of this production, tickets are very well priced, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed! Well, that’s the end of that plug.
My only regret with being in this play is that I had to miss so many amazing concerts with KDWB- Britney, Taylor Swift, and so on. Due to the rehearsal schedule of my show, I have been relegated to working Lucas Live every week. Too bad. Luckily, next week I will be done with rehearsals and you can look for me at the Lil Wayne concert in August! Peace out my brothers.
