This summer has been jam packed with great musical hits. We decided to choose our top ten songs for summer of 2011.

6. Pretty Girl Rock by Keri Hilson- great to blast in the car and jam to

8. I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas- a great hit that never gets old
9. Like a G6 by Far East Movement/ Cataracs/ Dev- great for a summer party playlist
10. Lazy Song by Bruno Mars- because who doesn’t want to be lazy and do nothing all day?

My Dear KDWB Listeners (and Readers)

It is with a heavy Muggle heart that I write to you from the KDWB Offices this morning. Why so depressed, you ask? Well, last night was the end of my childhood: the final chapter, the final show, the final midnight screening of Harry Potter. Although I had already been to KDWB’s pre-screening of Deathly Hallows Part 2, I was no less upset that the final midnight screening was upon us. Luckily, I had some intrepid friends that braved the robe clad masses of other Potterheads at AMC Rosedale 14 who also happened to capture each stage of the madness.

We waited anxiously in line outside of the theater, gazing at all the creative costumes and showing off our matching t-shirts just as proudly. Around 10:00pm, after about 2 hours of waiting outside, the doors were opened and Muggles of every shape and size rushed the entrance to be the first to obtain their seats in the theater.

Now, for all you movie lovers out there, I am going to share with you one of my biggest secrets: The Very Best Seats in the House. Every time I hit the movies, whether it’s of my own volition or because I am working a KDWB contest (sign up here), I try my hardest to get the seats in the first row of the stadium seating. Do you know the ones I’m talking about? The ones where you can put your feet up on the bars without disturbing anyone and stretch your legs throughout a 2 hour, 10 minute epic conclusion. They are my seats, the ones that I usually fight for. Last night, I went to three different theater rooms before finding my seats, with my trusty friends in tow.

We settled in for another 2 hour wait, watching people play Banana Grams on the floor or pulling out their laptops to watch Deathly Hallows Part 1 before. We played “I’m going to Hogwarts and I’m bringing…”. The answers: Albus and Aberforth, butterbeer, Chudley Cannons, Draco Malfoy, Evil Lord Voldermort (insert evil laugh), Forbidden Forest, Grawp… and the list goes on.

Finally it rolled around to 12:01 and the previews began. My personal favorite was for Happy Feet Two (Dancing penguins!) before we got down to the real show. Of course, I started crying about two minutes in, when the Harry Potter logo flew onto screen; my poor friend had her hand crushed from this moment on.

Although I am sad that it is over, I will forever be happy that it happened. And though I am sure I will be made fun of for this blog for years to come, I will wear my Harry Potter T-shirt with pride today, and shout at every moment, “Mischief Managed!”

Intern "The Ultimate Muggle” Michelle

Hey KDWB fans, I’m back with a new addition to the team, Intern Meghann! We felt that it was necessary to let everyone in on what a KDWB Intern really does because there are a lot of myths out there about internships.

If you have an internship: Do you make coffee runs?
Do you have to wear a headset? Or sit behind a glass window?
Do you find it hard to stay awake because all you do is stare at a computer screen all day?

These are all stereotypes of a typical intern. Fortunately, here at KDWB, none of the above is part of our daily routine. Our lives here are full of excitement each and every day! You never know when your boss might ask you if you would like a pair of tickets to have lunch with The Script, or if you would like to see Chelsea Handler live, or Bruno Mars, or Glee, or Taylor Swift…the list goes on and on! Free movie passes anyone? Plenty of those to go around here!

        This would be Intern Meghann and I obviously really excited about all the different concert tickets that KDWB has to give away.

Here we are making “Register to Win” flyers to bring to an event so our listeners have the chance to win awesome prizes! We also call all of our different winners to let them know all about their prize and answer any questions they may have. No staring at a computer screen all day in the KDWB Intern office! We are always working on different projects.

            Lastly, here Meghann and I are getting ready to head out to an event in the awesome KDWB vehicle! This is what we go to all of our events in. As part of our job we go to awesome events such as Lucas Live, Lake Patrol out on Lake Minnetonka, and concerts (obviously).

We are all really lucky that we are never asked to make coffee runs, have to wear headsets, or get caught falling asleep at our desk. Our job is always fast paced and about providing fun for our listeners! A KDWB Promotions Intern is definitely NOT your average intern!

Well, hello there, KDWB listeners! On this bright overly hot day, I (Intern Em) am sitting at my cubicle and enjoying the wonders of the tropical desktop background rather than experiencing it for myself. Buuut who's to complain?! I get to do some pretty fun things at KDWB, like these for example…

First of all, this Saturday, I will be at Lake Minnetonka for Lake Patrol.  Needless to say, I am pretty excited! Who can say they get to do partial GTL at their internship?! Well, though you won't be getting college credit or internship experience for being there, you should come to the lake and visit me! I would love to chat with you all, and bond over tanning. How can you beat that?!

Second (third, fourth, fifth and so on), concerts concerts concerts! If you have gone to the calendar page of KDWB.com, you are probably familiar with the extensive list of music acts coming to the Twin Cities area this summer. Everyone from Taylor Swift to Ke$ha to Big Time Rush is coming to belt out their hit singles for our Minnesota Nice population.

SIDE BAR: Speaking of Big Time Rush- I want all of you North High School students to know that I am EXTREMELY jealous! My dream is to get serenaded by Carlos and Kendall (not to exclude James and Logan, of course). Boys, find me at your Minnesota State Fair show. I will be there in the 12th row.

Anyway, back to concerts! Needless to say, I am fairly certain that the majority of you are super excited about at least one concert, and I do not blame you. I am just as excited (if not more excited). As always, you are all welcome to stop by and grab some flyers from us interns. I will be at the Taylor Swift and Rihanna concerts next week. Holler at me… Seriously!

While I was a little sheepish early I like to think that I have made some pretty solid friends in the other interns, sorta like our own little wolfpack.  I’m gonna miss monkeying around with them at the events.  I'm also going to miss the office, diligently working like ants to call winners and make sure everything in the office was square.  You wonder how I'm going to miss that?  We kept the atmosphere fun while we did our work.  I'm definitely going to miss driving around in the KDWB vehicles, driving around feeling like a beautiful peacock catching the glance of all who pass.  I like to think that I earned my feathers.  It's safe to say I'm going to miss this place, it really was the bees knees.  I can assure you all one thing, I will stay loyal as dog to this station, but for now its time for me to spread my wings and fly.
